I am running for Pacifica School Board because I care about education in our community. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, and benefitted from excellent public schools. After graduating from Northgate High School, I took classes at Diablo Valley College. From there, I transferred to San Jose State University, and earned my degree in Biological Sciences. I paid for my degree by working retail and applying for grants, which taught me a lot about the cost and value of education. I have also been volunteering with charitable causes since childhood, including recently becoming a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in our county. I believe my history and perspective would make me an effective school board member.

As a board member, my primary focus would be restoring trust and collaboration between the district and the families it serves. This can only be done through increased transparency, listening to parents and students, and doing our best to meet or exceed their needs. My secondary focus would be locating funding for our district. I would make sure the district is utilizing existing grant resources available through the San Mateo County Office of Education. I would also push to hire a grant writer for the district, to locate and apply for funds.
